Wine and Cheese Pairing

Image
Wow, what an oppurtunity to write about wine and cheese. Two of the greatest things, what else could I ask for??? To begin our pairing adventure, we headed out to the wonderful gucci kroger and bought three wines and three cheese. We picked our cheeses based off what we knew we liked, and the for the wines we picked one white, one rose, and one red. The Cheeses that we picked out were a Pepperjack, a Havarti, and a Gouda. The wines that we ended up with the Bay Bridge Moscato, the Pinetti Rose and the Colorblock Cabernet Sauvignon. The Bay Bridge Moscato did not contain any information about what vintage it was from which was disappointing, but for only $2.99 it is hard to complain. Without the cheese, it tasted sweet, florally with notes of elderflower, and thick in a sugary way. I don't think I would buy this wine again, because since it was so sugary it was almost unenjoyable. When paired with the havarti, it was harder to pick up on the taste of the wine, but I do think it

Drink this Now! Lesson 2 Activity

For this activity, I chose to engage in Drink this Now, Lesson 2 Activity, where you test out a variety of glassware to see how it affects your perception of taste. After sending my friend out to buy wines for this week's Lesson on how to drink wine I was delighted to see that the wines he picked out looked delicious. The different glasses that I selected to use The red wine that was picked out is a 2017 Old Vine Zinfandel from the Scotto Family Cellar. The bottle was about $12 and says it contains flavors of blackberry, cherry, and spice with mild oak accents and soft tannins. The White wine we purchased is a 2021 Albarino, from Valminor.  1. The first thing we did was scout out cups in the kitchen to find ones we thought would work well for this lesson. I also placed our white wine in the fridge, and then uncorked the red.  The Albarino (Left) and the Zinfandel (Right) 2. I then filled each of the glasses with one shot of the Albarino. The Shot of the Albarino in each of the gla

Tasting- Cupcake Pino Grigio

Name of Wine : Cupcake Pinot Grigio Grapes: Pinot Grigio Country : Italy Region of Origin : Northern Italy Vintage year : 2021 Price : $10 Review from Vivino : shares notes of pear, apple, citrus, and oak. Wine Folly (page 149) the flavor that I was best able to pick up on was White Peach, and Cantaloupe. I was able to pick up on the high acidity and did not find the wine to be bitter, which aligns with the low level of tannins indicated in the book. On page 251 Wine Folly notes flavors of tart fruit and tingling acidity. I found it very easy to pick up on the tingling acidity, which I think could be connected to tart fruit. My Review:  Overall I found this wine to be refreshing, and easy to enjoy. I think this was a great first wine to try because it was easy to pick up on the fruity notes within. The label mentions flavors of Pear and Lemon, which combine to create a delightful taste. I found it interesting that in the Wine Folly book, they mentioned a Peach flavor, which I was ab
